Mangroves, flamingos, antelopes and birds await us (if we are lucky).

About the Event
We are lucky to have one of our members, an Umm Al Quwain native, who might himself be able to show us around the Emirate, or particularly the mangrove forest there.
With respect of global warming, mangroves play a major role in controlling the concomitant sea level rise, coastal erosion and long-term community stability and also have an excellent potential of medical values. Research also shows that coastal mangroves outperform most other forests in their capacity to store carbon. An examination of 25 mangrove forests across the Indo-Pacific region found that per hectare, they held up to four times more carbon than other tropical rainforests. On this trip we will do a walking tour of the mangroves. This is what you can expect: https://glimpsesofuae.com/2019/12/06/umm-al-quwain-mangrove-forest/
Weather and time permitting and based on group preference, we can either then visit the beach or participate in kayaking or SUP…
